چکیده

This research program is aimed at deriving and elucidating non-iterative approaches to the nonlinear inverse scattering problem including multiple scattering. They are applicable to certain classes of scatterers which go beyond the class of Born-approximable scatterers (they form a broader class). Two variants of the problem are of interest: 1) The support inversion or shape reconstruction problem, whose goal is to estimate the spatial support of a scatterer from knowledge of the scattering matrix as measured by a given remote sensing aperture, which will generally have limited views; and 2) the full reconstruction of the material properties or scattering potential (object function) (inverse medium problem). This problem may borrow from the solution of the support inversion problem, and, thus, in certain applications one can first obtain an estimate of the object support, and later carry out within that a priori support the respective nonlinear inversion yielding the material constitution or scattering potential.

An iterative method to estimate x-ray attenuation coefficients in computed tomography

Introduction: The basis of image formation in Computed Tomography (CT) lies in the x-ray linear attenuation coefficient of the scanned material. Compton scattering and photoelectric effect are the dominant interactions of the x-ray photons with the subject, in the range of diagnostic radiology. These two coefficients are important in tissue characterization by Dual-Energy CT (D...

Time-reversal-based imaging and inverse scattering of multiply scattering point targets

The treatment of time-reversal imaging of multiply scattering point targets developed by the present authors in Gruber et al. [ " Time-reversal imaging with multiple signal classification considering multiple scattering between the targets, " J. 2004] is reformulated and extended to the estimation of the target scattering strengths using the Foldy-Lax multiple scattering model. It is shown that...

Time-reversal and Signal Subspace Methods for Imaging and Inverse Scattering of Multiply Scattering Targets

In this work the inverse scattering problem of estimating the locations and scattering strengths of a number of multiply scattering point targets in the near or far field from single-snapshot active antenna array data is investigated with the aid of two signal subspace approaches: Time-reversal-based methods with an emphasis on time-reversal multiple signal classification (MUSIC) and a new sign...
